Going to your first lash appointment? Here is what to expect!
So, you’ve given in and decided that you really need some lash extensions in your life! You’ve got your appointment booked in but you’re a little unsure of what to expect.
Don’t worry, LashBase is here to help! We’ve put together a guide below of what you can expect when you go to your first lash appointment and all the dos and don’ts.
Research some styles.
Help your lash artist out, have a quick scroll on Instagram and see what lash styles you like. There are lots to choose from, so take some time to research and look at a few different styles. Screenshot them on your phone so when you get to your lash appointment you can show your lash artist the kind of thing, you’re after. Your lash artist will chat through some ideas, look at your eyes and plan a look that suits your eye shape.
Make-up is a no-no
Make sure to arrive to your lash appointment with no eye make-up! This saves a lot of time. If you arrive with heavy eye-makeup and lots of mascara your lash artist will have to spend a lot of time cleaning the lashes, which eats into the time that could be spent lashing! The lashes need to be in their most natural state. If you really can’t leave your house without mascara, then make sure to arrive at your lash appointment early so you can remove your eye-makeup before your appointment. Make-up will stop your lash extensions adhering properly, to ensure a perfect set arrive make-up free!
Be on time
It’s likely your lash artist will be busy with appointments, most of them work back to back! Lashes take time, and lash artists will book out a time slot in order to give you the best lashes possible. So, make sure you arrive on time for your appointment. This keeps everything running smoothly. Arriving on time will also prevent you from getting flustered or stressed, no one likes to rush! If you turn up late, this pushes everything back and may mean your artist won’t be able to complete the set.
Stay away from the coffee and be comfy
You’re going to be lying down for around 2 hours (maybe longer) so avoid any caffeine before your appointment. This will prevent your eyes twitching and stop you from needing to use the bathroom halfway through your appointment! You’ll be in one position for a few hours, so you’ll want to be as relaxed as possible and not feel restless. Make sure to wear some cosy clothes, so you’re as comfortable as possible. Your lash artist will also have a blanket on hand in you do get a bit chilly, so get cosy, relax and have a lash nap! (Lash naps are the best!).
During the treatment
A lot of people find their lash appointment to be really relaxing, it’s a time where you can lie down chill and zone out. Some lash artists like to have a chat, but others will prefer if you limit your talking as this can make the eyes move, therefore making it more difficult for your lash artist to place the lash extension. Your eyes will need to remain closed throughout the treatment, so relax, switch off and enjoy the treatment. If you don’t want to lie in silence you can always take your headphones and pop on your favourite playlist.
Share and Support!
Once you’ve opened your eyes, your new lashes will be revealed! Your lash artist will no doubt ask if they can take a few photos of their work for their own social media pages. So, ask if they can send you some pics, so you can share your new lashes! A simple post or Instagram story can really help a small business and your lash artist will really appreciate you sharing their work. Don’t forget to tag your lash artist! So, others can find them!
Love your lashes? Great! Leave a review on your lash artists' business page. It’s always nice to receive positive feedback, and you’ll never regret being kind.
