Top Tips for Lash Lift Treatments
Shield Selection
The right shield makes all the difference. Here’s a brief overview of each type of lash shield we have available.
- Round Shields – Best for downward-growing lashes. Create a soft, rounded curl with long lasting lift.
- Flat Shields – Ideal for straighter lashes or natural looks. Perfect for shaping and definition.
- Teardrop Shields – Go-to for bold, dramatic lifts. Great on simple lash lines; avoid with complex eye shapes.
Here's a guide to help you determine which shields to use:
What is the Apex?
The apex of a lash lift shield is the highest and thickest central point of the shield where the natural lashes curve most prominently during the lift. It's important because proper product placement at the apex ensures a symmetrical, even curl and prevents underwhelming or over-curled lifts.
Customise solution placement:
- For a soft lift, apply lifting solution 1mm below the apex.
- For a dramatic curl, go 1–2mm past the apex.
Don’t overprocess – More time doesn’t equal more lift. Stick to your timing based on lash thickness and type.
Timing tip: Fine lashes = shorter time. Thick lashes = longer time. Always start low and increase if needed.
Are your lashes ready?
Check Lash Readiness: Test the lashes by bending a single natural lash. If it bends into a U shape without resistance, the lashes are ready for the next step. This ensures optimal processing time. If it bends into a C shape and has some resistance, keep the solution on for a little longer but check every 30 seconds for readiness.
Aftercare = Long-Lasting Lifts
Give your clients these must-follow tips:
- Avoid sleeping on the face (especially on the first night)
- Avoid heat - saunas, steam rooms for 48hrs
- Use a lash serum for strength and retention
- MYTH: You CAN get your lashes wet. A lash lift is all about the chemical bonds that cannot be broken with water. However, there is a 4 hour rule. The lashes after a lift can be slightly dry and more prone to breakage. It takes our bodies approximately 4 hours to recoat the lashes in natural protective oils. Keeping step 3 on the lashes during this time and avoiding rubbing the eyes can help to nourish and protect the lashes.
Client tip: Frame your aftercare advice as a way to “protect your investment.” Your clients will listen when you tie it to results.
