Understanding Learning Styles in Lash Training

Have you ever considered your clients learning journey?

Not every student learns the same way and adapting your lash training to different learning styles can make all the difference to their confidence and results.

Here’s a quick guide to the four main styles and how to support each one.

Visual Learners

Learn best by seeing.

Tips:

  • Use diagrams in manuals and slides.

  • Demonstrate techniques slowly and clearly.

  • Share short video clips for them to rewatch later.

  • Colour-code lash maps and trays.

Auditory Learners

Learn best by hearing.

Tips:

  • Talk through demos step-by-step.

  • Encourage questions and discussions.

  • Use simple analogies to explain tricky concepts.

  • Record a short voice note recap of key points.

Kinesthetic Learners

Learn best by doing.

Tips:

  • Get them hands-on quickly with mannequin practice.

  • Keep theory sessions interactive.

  • Let them set up beds, tools, and products themselves.

  • Offer short, frequent breaks to reset focus.

Reading/Writing Learners

Learn best by reading and writing.

Tips:

  • Provide clear, detailed manuals and checklists.

  • Let them take plenty of notes.

  • Offer a written recap of key points after training.

Combine Them All

Most students have a mix of learning styles, so include visuals, verbal explanations, hands-on practice, and written materials in every course. This keeps everyone engaged and helps information stick.

Want to give your students the best start possible? Try sending them a short pre-training quiz that includes “What’s Your Learning Style?” This will help you understand how each student learns best, so you can tailor your support from day one.

We’ve created a ready-to-use set of questions you can send to your students before their course. Download it here.
