How to reverse a lash lift

Lash lifts are growing in popularity and it's easy to see why. The treatment helps your clients achieve long and curled lashes for up to 8 weeks, with minimal aftercare! However, like with any beauty treatment, sometimes it doesn’t always go to plan.

The lashes can either not lift at all or become too curled! But don’t worry if the clients’ lashes are overpermed and they’ve ended up with eyelashes that are too curly, you can reverse the lift.

Here are some of our lash lifting insider tips and tricks on how to fix an overcurled lash lift.

Here’s how to reverse a lash lift.

1. Prepare the Lashes

  • Use the same shields as originally used, but you may need to size up by 2 sizes in this case.

2. Apply Step 1 - BUT With Shorter Timings

  • Start by leaving step 1 on for half your original timings.
  • Once you have left it on for half the original time, check the lashes (e.g. original was 10mins so for the reversal, leave them on for 5 mins).
  • Do not remove Step 1 until you check the lashes and they are processed. They will start bending in half/closing like a book when they are ready.

3. Remove Step 1 Properly

  • Once processed, remove the solution.
  • Wipe the lashes with a damp cotton bud to fully remove the solution.

4. Apply Step 2

  • Apply a generous amount of Step 2.
  • Use covers to help keep the lashes adhered to the shield.
  • Leave Step 2 on according to whatever Step 1 timing ended up being, BUT, keep it on a little longer than needed, just to be safe.

5. Step 3 (Nourishing Stage)

  • Ask the client to leave Step 3 on for 12 hours if possible, or minimum 4 hours.

Never apply Step 1 alone without Step 2.

Step 1 breaks the bonds, and without Step 2 it can damage or weaken the lashes.

Once you have followed the above steps, we recommend waiting at least 4-6 weeks before you attempt the lash lift again. This is to ensure the client's lashes are not overprocessed or damaged.

Remember: When using our Lifted kit, the key to getting long natural lashes is to take your time and follow our guidelines. You can always adjust the timings slightly depending on the condition of the clients’ natural lashes.

Lifted solutions (apart from Lifted. with Cysteamine) should only be placed just above the root of the natural lash and not all over. If you place the solution all over, from root to tip, you could overprocess and damage the natural lash, resulting in a poor lift. Be careful when placing the solution as more does not equal a better lift.
