Making Tax Digital

Making Tax Digital (MTD) is part of the tax admin strategy - aiming to streamline tax processes and close the tax gap. These upcoming changes will affect self-employed businesses.

You will need to:

  • Keep digital records
  • Use software that works with MTD
  • Submit updates every quarter - that means 5 submissions a year as opposed to doing one tax return a year.

When do these changes come into effect?

You will need to make sure you are completing the MTD requirements by the 6th April 2026 if you have an annual business or property income of more than £50,000, and April 2027 if you have an annual business or property income of more than £30,000.

If you haven’t set yourself up for this change, Ria Jaine - The Beauty Accountant, is ready to help you.

Ria has a new free guide for making tax digital as well as a huge partnership with Quickbooks that may be helpful for you if you are a self-employed business owner.making tax digital guide for beauticians

To add to this, she also has over 80% off RRP exclusive discount on Quickbooks software this month as part of her making tax digital campaign and partnership with Quickbooks. If you sign up for the MTD masterclass or contact Ria direct via Instagram, you will get access to this discount.

These are some great resources that we think will be useful for you and your business - so go and check them out and get your taxes in order!
