Top Tips to increase your social media engagement!
Social media content is quickly becoming an essential part of growing a business and an online community.
Social media allows you to build relationships, network and engage with existing clients and potentially find new clients too!
Not sure where to start? Here are our top tips to increase your social media engagement and turn followers into clients:
Film High Quality Content
You don’t need to own an expensive camera to film and shoot high quality content. If you have great lighting and a smartphone you can create some amazing Instagram worthy content that your followers and clients will love! Here are a few of our top tips to ensure your content is high quality:
Lighting: Lighting is everything when it comes to content creation. So, make sure to film/shoot your content near a window with lots of natural daylight. You can also invest in some lighting of your own, we offer both Ring Lights or Pro Light.
Audio: Record in a quiet room with no echo. This will ensure your audio is clear and easy to listen to for you audience.
Stability: Use a tripod or phone stand when taking your pics/filming your videos this will ensure your footage isn’t shaky!
Stuck on what to post or film? Remember content can be:
- Images – Lash photos, selfies (User Generated Content)
- Videos – client videos, time – lapse of your creating a set of lashes, behind the scenes, how to care for your lashes.
- Quotes – Testimonials, lash quotes, posts taken from twitter etc.
- Memes
- Giveaways and Competitions.
- Promotions – Offers, new treatments.
Show Your Face on Video
Clients/Followers like to see the face behind the brand, so make sure to show your face in your videos. Showing your face on social media can be a major growth hack because it helps create more trust with your viewers and can encourage engagement through comments like and shares.
So, breakout of your comfort zone, film yourself talking to the camera and introduce yourself to your audience.
Add Text or Subtitles to your video content
Not only do subtitles make your videos more accessible for those who are deaf or hard of hearing, they also allow viewers to engage even if their volume is off.
While some platforms like Facebook, IGTV, generate automatic captions, other platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels require you to manually add text. However, both apps have easy-to-use text editing tools. Be sure to use the same font, colours, and style for each video to ensure your branding in coherent throughout.
Use a Call to Action in your social media captions
Once you’ve created your content, you need to think about your captions. One way to increase engagement is to use a call to action. You should always try to start with an attention grabbing first line or equally a call to action. For those that don’t know, a call to action is a request for the follower to do something. So that could be asking them to rate the posts out of 10. It could be asking them to “double tap”. It could even be a teaser as to what the rest of the caption is about. Whatever it is, it’s a good place to start to provoke an action. This is because Instagram captions only show a sentence in the preview and the follower must click “see more” to continue reading. So, either they don’t click the “see more” but they still click like/comment or the call to action is appealing enough for the follower to read on.
Be Consistent
Remember Instagram is a visual app and people want to see your work. So, make sure to be consistent with your content, upload amazing lash photos with good lighting and engage on the platform. You have around 3 seconds to make an impact so think outside the box with your posts. Of course, Instagram isn’t just about having an aesthetically pleasing feed, it is way more than that... If your aim is to gain lash clients, then you need to stop interacting with lash artists and focus on engaging with people in your local area.
